I had the same problem. I couldn't couldn't get this to work - so I had to
do something like:
/usr/bin/dvgrab --format raw - | /usr/local/bin/vlc - :demux=rawdv --sout
'#tran
scode{vcodec=mp4v,acodec=mpga,vb=256,ab=64}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,ur
l=/o
pt/VideoStorage/200606131111a.avi},dst=standard{access=http,mux=ogg,dst=medi
a-sr
v:8080}}' --intf dummy

Subject: [vlc] firewire
Hi developers..
Well I have some troubles capturing from a firewire interface; I have a sony
miniDV cam and I tried to capture with the vlc through the firewire
interface from my PC, but the picture looks like without sync; are there
options to capture from a firewire?? like capturing from "v4l" for example
"norm","frecuency", etc to improve the picture??
my command to capture is:
vlc -vvv dv/rawdv:///dev/raw1394 --dv-caching 10000
Thanks in advance..
ps: sorry for my english
