[vlc] AMV format?

It's Christmas! And I got a new "MP4" player! Unfortunately, "MP4" in
the description of a player doesn't seem to have much to do with
anything blessed by the MPEG Licensing Authority, and the only video
format it does is AMV.

Does VLC do AMVs? Does anything else do AMVs? Is there something I can
use to transcode videos to this format? I'm on a Linux box, so it
should be free software or at least Windows stuff that works well with
Wine.
