[vlc] crackling flac after upgrade to 0.8.6a

hi all,

i've noticed that after upgrading to vlc-0.8.6a that .flac files play
back with "crackle" for the first 30 secs or so.

platforms exhibiting behavior:

intel i386/i686 RHEL/CENTOS linux
ppc Mac OSX

any thoughts?
