[vlc] VLC Default Enable

Hi,

I was tinkering around with VLC and I feel it is useful.
However, when I use Windows Media Player, it sometimes wants to open the file I've selected.
An example is the internet radio on WMP.
If I select New Age, 'Native American'; VLC wants to play the songs.
How do I disable the VLC from dabbling with the WMP files?
WinAmp has a deselector option for audio/video applications.
Where is the deselector for VLC ?
