[vlc] Pause & Play problem

Hi,
Hope I'm sending this to the right place. I've looked all over forum and Faq's and can't find anything on this problem.
Could you please tell me how to correct the pause & play problem I'm having.
While I'm watching a video when I try to pause and then want to continue playing nothing happens. In order to start playing again I have to restart and play from beginning again.
