[vlc] Only this DVD doesn't play...

os x 10.4 vlc 0.8.6c

A Series of Unfortunate Events uk110104 purchased from Sainsburys £3.99

this brand new dvd will not play using vlc.
vlc displays the copyright information, but freezes as 8.0s
playback title chapter 1,2,3 etc crash application

this dvd play normally in dvd player.
