[vlc] does vlc play .iso files directly off the harddrive?

What OS do You use ?
Either you can share or you cannot mount!
If Windows - then You cannot share the device, true - but you do not mount
devices!
If it is some kind of Unix (Linux, BSD, Mac OS 10) then you do mount
devices, but the devices are just files and you can share them!
Also gogle for iSCSI - that is exacty sharing the devices, and AFAIR even
Windows can do it with help of extra programs.
