[vlc] VLC behaving strangely when playing DVD

Hi

I have been using VLC for watching DVDs for a while, and I just
recently realized a strange issue that I did not believe possible.
Maybe I should ask this in a different mailinglist, if so, please
advice.

When playing the dvd "the pursuit of happyness" like I usually do,
using dvdsimple:///dev/scd0@1, the movie stutters and comes to a halt
after 20 seconds, the dvd drive making lots of noise. Now, doing the
same thing using dvd:///dev/scd0@1, the movie runs smoothly, and does
not halt after 20 seconds.

I seem to remember that a while back, the dvd:// version did not allow
for showing a title directly, and that the dvdsimple:// was the
solution. Is this title support in dvd:// something new? Should I stop
using dvdsimple? Why do they seem to run so differently, even decoding
is different ( the stuttering at least )?
