Probably, yes.

XBMC uses mplayer to play video, so you should be able to open an HTTP
or RTSP stream from VLC. I don't think raw UDP streaming would work though.

There are python scripts for XBMC to handle streaming URLs, they're
probably what you're after. I'm afraid I haven't used XBMC myself, but
my friends have, so I don't know exactly what you'd need.
