[vlc] Feedback from vlc regarding the stream bit rate

I use libVlc.dll in a video stream reciever across the Internet and need to have feedback from vlc regarding the input stream. Especially I need if the bit rate arrives to a certain low level limit. Best way would be to have some event/callback or a similar mecahnism in my C# progran.
Is that possible and how?
