[vlc] Many crashes with vlc 0.9.6 on Windows

Am I the only one who has been seeing many crashes of 0.9.6 under Windows? 
  They are not the only trouble I've had with this version, but they are 
the most frequent one, and I'd like to get some idea whether the problems 
lie with vlc or with my system.

This version is improved for features, but is evidently much less stable 
than 0.8.6i.  On my system, at least, which is Win2K SP4.
