[vlc] fast playback?

Hi,

I generally like to watch and listent to training/class videos at 2x
or greater playback.  So an hour and a half class lecture I can watch
it in 30 minutes or less. Does vlc offer this option (i can speed it
up but the audio doesn't play) or is it an option that could be added
in the future?

Currently I'm forced to watch videos on powerdvd on windows, but it
has a max of 2x playback.

I think pitch shifting/compensation is needed to keep the audio reasonable.
