XP, P4, 2.67 mhz, 3 GB ram

ver 8.6i worked fine
installed 9.6 and i can no longer open any video even with Win MP 11.
uninstalled VLC and i can now open video with Win MP 11

what have you done?  VLC 8.6 was fine!
