[vlc] How to reduce VLC's size?

Hi,
   I want to reduce "VLC's under linux" main program size, I use vlc to run Xvid video files and mp3 audio files only. so i want to disable all other components which are not needed.
Note that, I minimized the included ffmpeg library to include only xvid codec. If there are some Modules / Components / Plugin's that can be removed/disabled kindly help me to find them. 
Kindly any help, further reading, or URL's would be greatly appreciated.
