[vlc] Need help building x264 - not sure which list to use

It says not to post to a dev list for this sort of thing, but I don't
see an x264 users list.

Anyway, I ran configure (I'm using Vista with a MinGW environment), I'd
like to know what "mp4 output", "pthread", "gprof", and "PIC" mean, and
how to be able to use them if I want. Also, I'm using the 20081017-2245
snapshot (in case that matters). Thanks in advance.
