Hi:

Could not find reference on the support site to the problem I'm experiencing.

I'm using VLC on two different PCs:
PC1:
WinXp SP3
GT8600 video card
VLC V0.8.6i
PC2:
WinXP SP3
GT7300 video card
VLC V0.8.6d

I have recorded a number of VHS PAL videos (25fps) of between 30 and
90 minutes.
All files have been recorded with the same settings in Dvico FusionHDTV.
Using 6000kbps bitrate setting, this typically creates mpeg-2 files
of between 1.4GB and 4GB.

Both PCs exhibit the same problem:
Using VLC (different versions, different computers), Stream and Media
Info shows:
stream0 mpgv
stream1 mpga
Input bitrate ~6600kb/s
Stream bitrate ~6340kb/s

About 1 in 3 files show the total play time much shorter than the real
play time, and current position matching the shorter play time.
(From my quick calculations displayed times are about 0.648 real times).
The remainder are showing correct times.

The problem does not exist on Windows Media Player V11.0 although I seem to
remember seeing similar behaviour in earlier versions.

Is there a fix?

TIA

Howard
