[vlc] VLC 0.9.2 bug: Mozilla plugin is not recognized by 64-bit Firefox 3.0.1

System RHEL5, AMD64 (XL-62 CPU).
VLC 0.9.2 compiled from source with no errors and working.

'make install' puts the libvlcplugin.so into /usr/local/lib/mozilla/plugins.
Plugin copied to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
and
/usr/lib/firefox3.0/plugins
where all my other plugins are.

After Firefox restart 'about:plugins' in Firefox 3.0.1 does not show the
VLC plugin.

Exactly the same process performed on a i386 RHEL5 system results in 32-bit
Firefox 3.0.1 correctly loading the 32-bit VLC plugin.

Could the problem be that 'make install' loads VLC libraries into
/usr/local/lib instead of /usr/local/lib64 on a x86_64 machine?

Has anyone got this plugin recognized on a x86_64 machine running 64-bit
Firefox 3.0.1? If yes, where do you have your libvlcplugin.so and
libvlcplugin.la files?

Thanks
Frank
