[vlc] Cannot open files on USB HDD

Hello VLC team,

I have used VLC Media Player with great pleasure on Windows machines. A 
few weeks ago I started using it on openSUSE 11.1 but unfortunately I 
cannot get it working with a USB HDD.

VLC does not recognize the USB HDD in anyway. Now, I am not sure if it s 
me, a novice Linux user, or if it is VLC causing this.

Any advice would be appreciated.
