[vlc] legal question

I bought a computer which i also use for work and home. Can i use your vlc player legally in a work environment? I just ask this because your player allows you to play quicktime, but if i was dto download quicktime player they say you need a commercial liscence. So is it legal for me to use your for commercial and non commercial as your pplayer plays quicktime movies.
