[vlc] problem while starting the player

respected sir,
                   I like vlc player very much.. but now for a few days i face a problem... i dont have an internet connection.. when ever i start the vlc player the window to update is coming... I am unable to stop in... i checked with prefrences also... i also uninstalled and deleted the entire folder and reinstalled... still the same problem comes... what is the solution...
