[vlc] video crashing VLC

I have an avi file that I captured using fraps on a game in windowed mode.
The file will not play on VLC. It just shows a black screen.

I can accept that. It is not reasonable to expect VLC to play every
video in the world.

However, the program crashes. Seems like crashing is a bad thing to do.
Must be an unhandled exception or other wiggly bit.

If you would like a copy of the avi to test in your development
environment just let me know.
