Hello Charles,

VLC can't work-around the region lock on newer drives (well, less than  
3 years old in fact), so you'll only be able to play DVDs with the  
same region code as your drive is set to. There is no work-around for  
this besides buying a 2nd drive and setting to a different region.  
Finding a suitable firmware for your drive is another possibility,  
however, this will void your warranty and is legally controversial.
