Hello Jürgen,

this issue is not related to VLC's preview release. ZDF mediathek  
apparently removed the feature to use different playback plugins and  
chose to make use of Flash Video only. Flash Video is a lot more  
memory and CPU time consuming than any other video playback plugin out  
there (and even provides a worse video quality in most cases), but  
fairly easy to implement and maintain for the media provider.  
Therefore, please file your complains to ZDF. Their previous technical  
approach was a lot more complicated, but also much better for  
virtually every user.

P.S. Although VLC media player is able to decode Flash videos, it  
cannot be used as a drop-in replacement for Adobe's Flash plugin.
