[vlc] problem

hello, 
 since I installed version 1.0.2, I can not read MKV format 
 there is a window ( "update the cache of fonts"), reached 20%, VLC plant 
 can you tell me why and what to do about it 
 Excuse me for possible mistakes because I'm French and I speak very bad English
