[vlc] Problems with launching VLC

Hi,
I cannot start VLC on my Windows XP PC. I have several times downloaded the
program. Nothing helps. When I double click on the VLC icon, nothing
happends but computer stops functioning. Is there anybody who can give me
some help. What should I do to get the program working?
