That's incorrect. The last version of Mac OS X for PowerPC-based Macs is 10.5.8, which still supports the latest releases of VLC for the Mac and will continue to do so for quite some time.

For Mac OS X 10.4.x series, VLC's last version was 0.9.10 as hinted on our Download for Mac OS X page at <http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html>
