[vlc] playlist not surviving shutdown

I posted this a while back but never got a response. I'm running vlc
1.0.6-1ubuntu1.1 on Ubuntu 10.04.1.

I can create a playlist and play streams from it but when I close the
program and reopen it I can't open the playlist. The ownership and
permissions look right:

holtzm at localhost:~$ ls -l playlist_fm
-rw-r--r-- 1 holtzm holtzm 617 2010-07-27 01:09 playlist_fm

Anyone have any ideas?
