[vlc] no audio

I absolutely can't find any help whatsoever with regards to my problem. My
VLC doesn't produce any audio when playing any video of any format! I tried
fixing it through the settings, I tried asking for help and searching
through the web but nothing, deleting and installing VLC but to no avail.
The movies I try to play on my VLC produce no audio but they play fine on
other players. what shall I do?
