i'm using vlc to time-shift a video stream... the resulting saved file is
about 1gb... during playback, the 'remaining time' indicator in the lower
right corner is really weird... like -60:24:40 for a 4hour recording... the
little a diamond in the slider next to the time indicator doesn't seem to
respond, too... these are really minor. also, it would be nice to see what
the 'faster' or 'slower' speed is (roughly)... as in x2 or x4... not a have
to do. but, an indication of 'normal' speed would be helpful... it was
funny to go too far from faster to slower...
it might be helpful to timestamp the messages in the message log window...
namely for the beginning and ending of the recording.
this is the in regards to a Mac OS 10.5.8, quicktime 7 pro...
oh, for some reason, which i think is not VLC's problem, QT doesn't play the
recorded video correctly... it should be mentioned that the captured video
stream is a flash file, and, i think that the problem is with the flip4mac
or perian applications used by QT as a codex...
if you need more info about how it was set up to record the stream or how
the playback is, i'll be glad to help.
