Dear VLC-group,

THANK YOU for your consistant efforts to improve VLC towards becoming
the ultimate tool of its kind.

My last update for Mac is Goldeneye 1.05 from january 2010. Have yet
to find any errors.

I have a question, though: In order to be able to play MKV-tiles on
VLC, I have had to purchase a tool - MKVtools 2.1.1, as f.ex. ffmpegX
doesn't do this very well or fast. The reluctance to play MKV-files in
VLC (even with all other apps and Finder quit) may be due to my
"oldish" laptop, a 12" G4 PB, 1.5 GHz, 1.25GB RAM (maxed out), but it
is somewhat annoying. So: ARE MKV-files so CPU-heavy that nothing can
be done to speed up the reading of them - maybe a longer pre-cashing
or something? It would be acceptable to me to have to wait a few
minutes.

I realise I have no real understanding of what takes place under the
hood, but I also don't know which questions to ask.

Warm regards,
kenneth krabat
