[vlc] Problems with VLC

Hello:
I am having problems with the VLC player. 
Version:  4.4.2 GCCUsing the Qt4 interface
Below are each problem:
1.     Some movies that I download from reliable sources cannot be played.  I get a black screen with sound only
2.    Certain movies I cannot advance the movie by dragging the cursor on the progress bar. 
3.     I cannot use the Loop option any longer.  It used to work when I first got VLC but that function no longer works.
