Since I feel like you probably didn't get the answer you're looking for I'm want to make clear what VLC-Media type means. On Windows Computers when a file type such as .avi is
associated with VLC media player Windows calls it a VLC Media file. As for playing such files on a DVD player you need to make a DVD out of the files, my personal favorite method
for doing this is to use DVDStyler to create an ISO then use IMGBurn to burn the ISO to a blank DVD-R.

Note: Most DVD players can only play DVD files which are a special combination of .VOB files, and even if you started with .VOB files if there isn't a proper reference
within the DVD a DVD player can't play them.
Note Also: Most DVD players will only work with DVD-R disc, anything else (DVD-RW, DVD+RW, ect) is likely to fail.
Note Also: Different DVD players have different types of codes in them for region and format. DVDStyler can make a region free disc but, you still need to determine whether
you're using an NTFC (usually US) or PAL (usually European) format player.
Finally Note: In case it isn't blatantly obvious the process of making DVD's can be a bit technical so if you're that intent on making your computer Video files play on a DVD
player I highly suggest finding some guides/walkthroughs to help you along.
