No, this is definitely NOT spam! I have written to the French and English VLC Forums with my problem:

I installed latest version of VLC (1.1.8) on my Mac (OS X 10.6.7). In respect to (I think) the previous version, the controller/interface appears now and again during the movie.
I thought it might have something to do with the wireless mouse, but even after putting it upside-down or turning it off completely, the problem subsists.
Can this be cured so I can go back to 1.1.8 (I have replaced it with 1.1.7 for the mo, but I don't yet know if this is going to solve the problem.

  very best regards,

  Diogo de Salles Costa

      Dear software manufacturer,

your software VLC media player is listed in the heise software directory at <http://www.heise.de/software/download/vlc_media_player/14724> and we recently started offering version 1.1.9 (32- und 64-Bit) (vlc-1.1.9.dmg) for download.

Fortunately, our automatic virus checks (done in co-operation with AV-Test GmbH) with more than 40 virus scanners do not indicate a virus infection. Just in case you are interested in the scan result we are sending you the detailed scan report:
