Dear folks,
I just updated to your latest release (1.1.6), and I am sorry to say
that a bug has appeared with the update. When listening to an internet
radio stream, several times a day, a sound appears for about a second.
It sounds like the last few milliseconds of programming are repeated at
a rate of about 100 per second. The sound amplitude is not louder than
the programming on the stream. The glitch appears on several different
different radio streams so is unlikely to be a glitch at the broadcast
source. The problem is not reproducible. The problem is not so
annoying that I will abandon using VLC. I thought that if you got
enough mail telling you about this, someone might conclude that the
latest build of VLC has a problem.
One problem that is reproducible is that re-playing a track causes what
sounds like a brief (perhaps 300 millisecond) burst similar to what is
described above. It noise sounds like the last few milliseconds of what
was being played, repeated once. It only appears after pausing playback
(of an MP3 track), moving the playback pointer back to the beginning,
and hitting play. As above, the problem is not so annoying that I set
out to find a replacement media player.
I really appreciate you making VLC available to us all. It is clearly
the work of many dedicated people doing good for the world. Thank you
for making your fine work available to all.
