[vlc] VLC with Kubuntu 11.04

I have a machine with both Ubuntu 11.04 and Kubuntu 11.04 installed (on 
separate disks). Under Kubuntu streaming radio produces no sound whereas 
under Ubuntu it plays just fine. My speakers are USB connected and I'm 
guessing that a missing library is the cause of the problem, but I've no 
idea where to start looking.

Anyone able to help?
