[vlc] VLC crashes upon running any mp4 or flv file

I have a Lucid 10.04 and VLC version 1.0.6. it has stooped playing any .flv
or mp4 files. The VLC window closes upon loading any file, I had started it
in terminal to see what error it generates. Here is the error message
