[vlc] installing vlc1.2 pre3

Hi,
I just dowloaded vlc1.2 pre3 to my ubuntu natty box to try it out. As per the INSTALL file I did a ./configure and make and tried ./vlc so as to try it out without installing. These are the options i used with ./configure -> ./configure --disable-lua --disable-mad --disable-a52 --disable-alsa --disable-libgcrypt --disable-glx

But after the configure and make when the ran ./vlc the vlc window is not popping out and i am getting this message on console ->

but when i run the vlc command for already installed 1.1.9 version it works without the XML reader not found error
Am I doing anything wrong ? Please help
