[vlc] VLC and .mkv movies

First off, MKV is not a "recording suffix," it is a wrapper.  MKV is the
wrapper of choice for H.264/AVC encoded files.

Download MediaInfo (google it) and have it list the contents of the MKV wrapped
file.  More than likely the video is H.264 (listed as AVC) and encoded with
the x264 H.264 encoder.  If that is the case, VLC works out-of-the-box with
these files.

Possible non-playback causes could be a misconfiguration of VLC, or a codec
that you've installed that is conflicting with VLC.  Just a WAG.
