I am wondering, why ALL avi-files - on an otherwise integrity-checked:okay external USB hard drive (mac OS extended formatted) connected to my Mac OS Maverick - prior to play on VLC 2.1.2 have their indexes rebuilt?

The movies have been copied from a Synology NAS, from which they normally play over the network via VLC 2.1.2 WITOUT having their avi-indexes rebuilt.

I just don’t understand the difference.

sincerely,
