In fact, VLS hasn't really been ported to OSX yet...

However, I managed  to compile one with some issues.  The problem you're
describibg are not part of the ones  I faced. How exactly are you trying
to compile these libs ?

Moreover, libdvdplay is not required by vls, only libdvdread is.
