[vls-devel] Streaming from PVR with IVTV drivers...

Hi there!

We still have problems when streaming directly from PVR cards (using IVTV
drivers 0.1.9 or latest snapshots) and last stable versions of VLS.

We tried setting the PVR in many modes (ps/ts, cbr/vbr, many bitrates and so
on) but problems still occours.

When doing 'cat /dev/video0 > test.ts' we always have a valid TS file, that
we can display fine using local or remote VLC (by streaming it using VLS).

But when doing a direct stream using VLS from the video device (/dev/video0)
we always have strange video effects (missing frames, trash on changing
parts of the video and sometimes choppy audio).

We configured vls to output directly to file, and we found that saved files
are fine, too (we tried playing with VLC or streaming again with VLS and
still works).

So, i think the problem is related the way VLS polls for data directly from
the video device when streaming the same source to the network instead of
saving the dump to file: in this process something in the stream is missed
by someone.

Can you help my?

Bye,
Paolo Scaffardi
