[x264-devel] Building snapshot with x264

Hello all, 

I thought I would start evaluating and working with the x264 encoder
with VLC.  I have gotten the SVN snapshot of the latest x264 trunk and
the VLC trunk, the x264 trunk compiled fine.  However, I was unable to
find any documentation about compiling the x264 encoder into VLC.
Lastly, I understand ffmpeg has an h264/AVC decoder supporting main
profile, can anyone point me towards some information on that, I am
coming up blank on my google searches.
