Hi !

Are there any results available for a single core pentium with
hyperthreading ?

Subject: [x264-devel] test results: threading/slices

I ran some tests on my dual PIII and with different number of threads.
Results, shortly and sweetly:

Two threads decrease encoding time around 40-45% but increase bit rate by
around 2%.

With four threads, bit rate is increased by 5.4% (with two CPUs, encoding
time is obviously not shortened).

The bit rate is increased relatively more at low bit rates.

More complete results:

I'll check what x264 revision I used, update the page, and then add a link
to http://www.ee.oulu.fi/~tuukkat/mplayer/tests/readme.html
