[x264-devel] Rate control mechanism

Hi All.

1)I looked at the rate control , and thought maybe to implement a MB based
QP selection.Any ideas on the
improvement I might get?

2)I also looked in some academic papers regarding rate control and did not
see any one that seems to
co relate with the implemented mechanism.Does any of you know the paper or
mechanism on which the x264
rate control is based ? I would really like to read it.
