[x264-devel] compile with mp4 support / gpac error

Hey all,

Having some problems getting x264 to compile with mp4 support. i  
managed to get gpac libraries installed by running only "make lib"  
and "make install-lib" on gpac.

x264 now runs to the linker but comes up with the following...

$ ./configure --enable-mp4-output --enable-pthread --extra- 
cflags="$CFLAGS -mcpu=7450 -mpowerpc-gpopt -fastf"

...

$ make

...

gcc -o x264 x264.o matroska.o muxers.o libx264.a -lm -lmx -lpthread - 
lgpac_static -s
/usr/bin/ld: table of contents for archive: /usr/local/lib/ 
libgpac_static.a is out of date; rerun ranlib(1) (can't load from it)
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [x264] Error 1

could this be because i am running the gpac make from the cvs rather  
than actual release?

(running g4 powermac os10.4.6 gcc4.0.1)
