[x264-devel] Is there some papers or books about the rate control model of x264?

I am trying to understand how the rate control model(in analyse.c) works, but I find it too diffcult if I just read resource code.I think there may be some papers about the RC model. If somebody can provide some information or paper about the model, I will be appreciated very much.
