[x264-devel] GSoC 2008: Macroblock tree project

Hello,

I am Aki Jäntti, a computer science student from Helsinki University of 
Technology. (Finland)

During the GSoC I will be working on a "Macroblock tree". Explained very 
quickly, the idea is to calculate the importance of each macroblock (and 
frame, by summing up the macroblocks) by counting the amount of references 
to that block. This information can then be used for determing the 
quantizers of frames or even individual macroblocks.
