[x264-devel] Finding IDR frame

I need to find out IDR frames from a x264 encoded file. As far I can see
from the code x264_picture_t is the outcome of encoding frame function. Is
this structure simply gets written to file as frame? Shall I look into field
i_type for this purpose?

Or is IDR frame representation completely dependent on container format Mp4?

Any help will be highly appreciated.
