Hi Experts,

When the bframe_pyramid is set, the GOP adaptive algorithm evaluates different slice paths cost, keeping only middle B frame as reference for other B frames. So, essentially x.264 supports only one level of hierarchy and also only one B frame is marked as reference though 5 or more than 5 frames are used as B frames in mini-GOP. Is this right?

Is it not going to be sub optimal considering the distant frame as reference? Is there is prior analysis data, to describe which B-pyramid structure offers good compression efficiency? Please give me directions to gain better understanding on it.

Regards,
Nag
