This is the twentieth x264 development newsletter. This is a regular
email containing updates on fixes and improvements in the most recent
x264 push, along with updates on what's coming next. Previous
versions can be found in the mailing list archives.

This is mostly a hotfix release, so no big changes.

Fixes:

Fix a bug in lossless sub-8x8 RD that could cause crashes in lossless encoding.

Fix a crash with 4:2:0 high bit depth input.

Fix a possible crash and some other issues in timecode input and parsing.

Fix a padding bug with MBAFF (didn't break output, just reduced
compression efficiency slightly).

Improvements:

Put X264_VERSION and X264_POINTVER in x264_config.h so they can be
accessed as part of the public API.

Use existing assembly versions of deblocking functions where possible
for MBAFF left edge deblocking.

Upcoming:

--device and automatic --level restriction support is in the works, as
part of Google Code-In. The patch is done, but needs review.

A per-option help system is in the works, as part of Google Code-In.
The patch is done, but needs editing of the help entries.

x262 is under development: a best-in-class MPEG-2 encoder built using
the x264 framework. Both P and B-frames are done and working.

Google Summer of Code is in progress: Trellis ME and H.264/MVC support
are the two projects.

4:2:2 support may be coming soon, both to x264 and libavcodec.
